"I feel so alone - even though I have lots of supportive friends. Since Christmas I have taken 2 overdoses. I am seeing the doctor and have just been discharged by the Crisis Team (probably shouldn't have been). I will not go down the overdose route again (I promised the Dr, my kids and my friends), but am still scared. We have an appointment at Relate next week, but it seems so far away. I can't post this on the normal forums."
Anna says: Without more specific information I can only suggest you seek counsel from the more familiar resources available. The fact that you have taken overdoses suggests that you want to draw attention to the fact that you need emotional help and support, yet have been unable to find the right means for you.
Find someone you feel comfortable talking to. It doesn’t matter who this person is as long as you are able to explain in more detail how you feel. Ask this person to help you find alternative means of support to the ones you have tried previously. This may involve seeking help and advice from a counsellor who deals with different issues to the ones you have previously identified. A trained therapist will be able to offer you a safe environment, in which to openly discuss your feelings and emotions.
The most important thing is to find someone you have a natural rapport with, as this will enable you to express your feelings and may help you work towards overcoming the urge to take your own life. The help you need is out there, but unfortunately you will have to seek it. By finding someone to help you deal with this you will be able to identify a better solution.
