During the Easter holidays, there are lots of ways to spend time with the kids, indoors and outdoors. From traditional activities such as painting eggs and hunting for them, to feeding the ducks and trips to the cinema.

Painting Eggs
This keeps them nice and creative and is the perfect way to keep Easter alive during this temperamental weather. All you need is boxes of eggs (we recommend a few as some are bound to get broken) and a paint set. Depending on their age this can be very basic. Put a small pin prick in the egg and then empty the contents so it’s simply a hollow shell. Then let them paint and design their eggs to their hearts' content. From funny faces to animals and all sorts, the eggs can be kept and used for decoration or they can then be hidden as part of their Easter egg hunt.

Easter Egg Hunt
A classic Easter tradition, an egg hunt can be hours of fun depending on how well you hide them. You can buy eggs from the supermarket to satisfy their sweet tooth or if you want to save money and stop them from having too much sugar you can use the eggs they painted. Probably best to do this nice and early in the morning otherwise you’ll be hassled all day as to where they’re hidden before you’ve even had a chance to hide them.

Family trip to the cinema Find a family movie that suits all ages. Jackie Chan's latest film The Spy Next Door is a return to traditional family fun on screen. Packed with action as well as comedy, and a traditional "good guys vs bad guys" story, the whole family will be able to enjoy the movie together. With the weather never being how it really should be at this time of year, a trip to the cinema at Easter is always a success and there’s always plenty on at this time of year.

Make Rice Crispy Cakes Another Easter favourite, creating chocolate rice crispy cakes can be very messy but, again provides them with hours of enjoyment. You’ll need a lot of chocolate a big box of rice crispy cereal, some cake cases and a bag of mini eggs. Melt all the chocolate and stir it into a big bowl. Then add a generous portion of rice crispy to the mix and let them stir. Then (with your help) get them to add a little bit of the mixture to each case. To finish them off add a mini egg or two on top and place them in the fridge for a good few hours, and they’ll be ready to eat.

Feeding the ducks As long as the weather is suitable this is another good family activity and it gets them outdoors and learning about wildlife and their environment. Most local parks have ponds or perhaps even lakes. Apart from the petrol costing of maybe driving to find somewhere, it’s a very cheap activity. All you’ll need is a bag of bread and some Wellington boots for the kids.
